About Us
DuBois Clan is a website for the descendants of John DuBois Sr. of Philadelphia, PA. This is our family website, and it contains information about us and our families. To see pages for specific members of the family, go to the Personal section.
DuBois Family
Our family is descendent from Chretien DuBois (b.1597) of Wicres, France, which is outside of Lille. During the persecution of the Huguenots by Loius XIV, Louis DuBois moved from France to Mannheim, Germany. The place where they settled was called die Pfalz. After marrying, Louis DuBois moved to America in 1660. Louis DuBois' brothers Francoise and Jacques also moved to America in the 1660's settling in Staten Island, NY and Kingston, NY respectively.
There are a number of famous relatives from the DuBois Family including George Patton, Marlon Brando, Joan Crawford, and the artist Mary Cassatt. The civil rights leader W.E.B. DuBois was a descendant of Jacques DuBois, Louis' brother. For more information see the DuBois Family Association Website.
